I'm too lazy to search for you, but I know it's not hard to find the differences. I know it has been covered many times before.

Why are so many people under this misconception? I thought that at least would be common knowledge.

EK4 = 96-00 SiR
EK9 = 97-00 Civic Type R

Both versions were offerend in both body styles, the 96-98 SiR had bumper mouldings while none of the 99-00 bodies did.

There are a ton of differences between the EK4 and the EK9. I've listed the majority of them before.

Actually, I was thinking about engine specs and performance related parts... When a part is said to be made for EKs, does it mean that it is compatible with all EK models?

No, a SOHC 96-00 Civic is an "EJ" chasis. People use "EK" as slang because some 92-95 Civics are also "EJ" chasis. Using "EK" is a general term for a 96-00 Civic regardless of engine, trim, option, or market. To be correct, though: a USDM 96-00 Civic 3dr Hatchback is an EJ6.

The higher that the number is after the chasis code, the more jdm it is.
