Question Will it hurt your motor to run straight pipe exhaust?

A couple of my buddies told me that you can run straight pipe all the way out the back with no resonator or cat. A couple of people at the exhaust shops told me that if you do that you will burn up your valves from having no back pressure. I also heard that on turbo cars you can run straight pipe because they dont need back pressure on the exhaust. I have an all motor gsr. Does anybody have a final answer to this question?

a regular custom exhaust setup would be alot better, people run the straight pipe and their engine still works if thats what youre looking for

It will not hurt your motor if you run straight pipe exhaust.

exhaust valves burn out from being introduce to the cold when your car sits there after doing some runs or just outside. the cold travels up to the exhaust easier since theres not cat or pipe but thats only a real problem if your running it straight from the headers. running a straight pipe will reduce the back pressure that you need but if your running the same route as the stock exhaust but with bigger piping like 2.5in mandrel bent than your actually gaining power while maintaning a lil bit of back pressure since the exhaust has bents to it which will be enough to build the back pressure. MANDREL bent is what you want

Run a high flow cat to an aftermarket exhaust.

No need in being the guy with the annoying car down the street.

i have a gsr and i run a rs-r ex mag, i dont think that they make it anymore, considering that mine is a 4 door. but it is 2 1/2 catback. please dont run a straight pipe underneath your car. you will have no backpressure whatsoever. backpressure is needed to produce torque. please run mandrel bent piping along the factory exhaust lines and you will make power as well as gain a little torque, but the torque will be a little farther up in the rev range.
